Our Story
Hi there, I’m Priya, and Caprilla was born from my decades-long passion for wine. The name Caprilla comes from capriolo — the Italian word for the roe deer that roam our Tuscan estate, whose distinctive antlers inspired our logo.
My journey from wine enthusiast to WSET-qualified wine professional and winemaker has been a long and very enjoyable one. Over the years, my travels have taken me through many of the world’s great wine regions, particularly in France and Italy, where I have visited countless vineyards and discovered some wonderful local wines rarely found beyond their regions. Along the way, I also met passionate winemakers, merchants and restaurateurs who generously shared their wine knowledge, stories and enthusiasm with me.
In 2016, I chose the beautiful region of central Tuscany for my own vineyard and winemaking venture. I must confess, I was perhaps a little naïve in thinking that a crash course in viticulture and A1-level Italian would set me on the path to becoming an expert Italian winemaker! The reality was both humbling and fascinating. I discovered first-hand just how much work, patience and care goes into every bottle of wine — and how much remains beyond a winemaker’s control, from the vagaries of each growing season to the increasing effects of climate change. There were also seemingly endless regulations to navigate as we worked towards making the vineyard organic and the business more sustainable.
The journey has certainly had its challenges, but the effort and patience have paid off. Today, I am immensely proud of our organic farm, the exclusive wine and olive oil we produce, and the sustainable principles that underpin everything we do.

One of the things I particularly love about life in Italy is the local enoteca. Almost every town and village has one: part wine shop, part wine bar and, often, part neighbourhood gathering place. You can taste local wines by the glass, accompanied by wonderful antipasti, and talk to people who genuinely know and love wine. The best enoteca owners get to know their customers and their tastes so well that they seem to know exactly which bottle to open when you walk through the door.
It is something of that spirit that I wanted to capture with Caprilla — wine that is personal, welcoming and there to be enjoyed, without losing the knowledge and craftsmanship behind it. Through Caprilla, I want to share what I have learnt and experienced over the years, from viticulture and winemaking to wine appreciation and, above all, the pleasure of discovering something new. Through an immersive experience at our farm in Tuscany, I hope to make the world of wine a little more personal, accessible and enjoyable.
